4 Graphic Design Trends To Avoid This Year

Every year new trends hit the market. No matter whether it is design industry or it is some other sector, new trends are always there to follow. While there are some graphic design trends that you can follow as a designer, some are better avoided. Here are four trends that the graphic design companies must keep away from.

  1. Too many colors in simplistic design:

Are you designing a website or a logo or even a brochure? So you want to keep it simple? Then why use too many colors? Minimalist designs are in the trends and the chances of creating an awesome design is limitless. However, the idea of creating a minimalist design is to keep the design as simple and clean as possible.

Using too many colors will only make the design look cluttered. According to the graphic design agency DigitalPolo, it is ideal to use two or maximum three colors for a minimalist design.

  1. Bold fonts:

Bold fonts are being used by many designers for the last few years. I must admit that there was a time when I liked it as well. However, this style has been used for so long and by so many companies that now I feel the style is being overused. It is time to stop using bold fonts everywhere. If you really want to include bold typography, you can do that for graphic design logo.

  1. Bright and bold hues:

Use of bright and bold colors was also one of the most common graphic design trends in the last couple of years. While using bold colors attract people, it sometimes may be overwhelming for your target audience as well. You may think that you are attracting your customers. But your customers may feel uncomfortable to continuously stare at bold colors. Hence, it is better to avoid using bright and bold colors. Instead, choose pastel shades that are muted. If you plan to use bright colors, use those as accent colors.

  1. Handwritten typography:

There are many companies that use handwritten typography for their website design. Handwritten typography looks good for logo design. But it is not at all recommended for website design. There are companies that have used this graphic design trend successfully even in their website design. But most of the companies who follow the trend, fail to execute it the proper way.

Now, you may ask why to avoid handwritten fonts for website design. The reason is that these types of fonts are not easy to read. People do not have enough time nowadays. Hence, they are not ready to spend time in deciphering what is written on your website. Instead, they may just leave your website increasing the bounce rate.

Conclusion:

Have you been in use of any of these trends? Do you think that it is fine to continue to use these trends? Well, if you think that you should keep using these trends, voice your opinion and let us know why.
